The word model has a broad meaning, it can refer to many different things, from a runaway model to a mathematical model. Within people analytics only, five models can be considered: business model, scientific model, statistical model, data model and system model. In this article, people analytics expert Mike West defines each of these models, explains what are their benefits and limitations, and how they can be used. To do so, he compares their use in what he calls “traditional people analytics” and in “lean people analytics”.
